Personal Information:
Name, email address, and phone number (collected via Firebase Authentication or other login providers).
Location Data:
- Approximate and precise device location when using the app (with permission).
- Location may be collected in the background while the app is active to provide real-time nearby restroom and food stop recommendations.
- We may store anonymized historical location data to improve future recommendations.
Driver Contributions & Activity Data:
- Stops added, verified, rated, or marked in Emergency Mode.
- Gamification progress: XP, badges, rewards earned, mission completions.
- Feedback on stops (e.g., restroom status, cleanliness).
Device & App Info:
- Device model, operating system version, in-app actions, crash logs, and performance data (for troubleshooting and analytics).

How We Use Your Information

We use the data we collect to:

Provide location-based restroom and food recommendations
Enable Emergency Mode for urgent needs
Track and display user contributions and gamification progress
Personalize suggestions based on your preferences, route history, and usage patterns
Detect fraud or spam and maintain community trust

Notify you of app updates, feature releases, or reward eligibility

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

BreakBuddy uses trusted third-party services including:

Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Crashlytics, and Analytics)
Google Maps SDK (for maps and location services)

These services may collect data necessary to provide their core functionality and operate under their own privacy policies.

We may also share anonymous, aggregated data with partners (e.g., for understanding restroom availability trends or app performance).

Your Choices & Controls

You may disable location sharing in your device settings, though this may limit core features of the app.
You can view, update, or delete your personal information by contacting support@breakbuddy.com.
To delete your account and all associated data, email us a request. We will process it within 48 hours.

Data Security

We protect your data using encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and secure cloud storage solutions. We regularly review our security practices to safeguard your information.

Children’s Privacy

BreakBuddy is not intended for users under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

You are responsible for any content you submit (stop suggestions, reviews, verifications, etc.). We reserve the right to moderate or remove content that violates our guidelines.

3. Gamification & Rewards

BreakBuddy may award badges, points, or perks for contributions. These are non-transferable and have no monetary value unless explicitly stated.

4. Liability

BreakBuddy is a community-powered tool. We do our best to verify data, but we are not liable for:

Inaccuracies in user-generated content
Service outages or location unavailability
Issues encountered at recommended rest stops

Always use your judgment when selecting a stop.

5. Modification of Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes. Continued use of the app implies agreement with the new terms.
